Facts & figures for the new Nissan Leaf were released recently, and it has all the makings of a very exciting EV. With the e-pedal, an upgraded 6.6 kw on-board charger & climate control as standard, the new Leaf is sure to bring up the new EV sales in the coming months. All of the figures below are after the €5000 Government grant, but exclude dealer delivery charges & metallic paint.
The range starts with the Leaf XE priced at €26,290, sporting the e-pedal, climate control & a 6.6 kw on-board chargerand any optional extras (Nissan Connect EV - Sat-Nav, Android Auto, Apple Carplay, rear view monitor etc.) will incur additional charges.
The next level Leaf SV starts from €28,690 and is available in grey or black interior colours. Owners of the Leaf SV will enjoy a heat pump, Nissan Connect, & rear view monitor as standard. Optional extras include; the Cold pack (4 heated seats & a heated steering wheel), which would come in useful during these snowy showers & front and rear parking sensors.
The new SV Premium Leaf is available from €29,940. It offers the same interior as the SV, but can have the optional part leather upholstery (in beige or black). It sports 17" alloys, intelligent driver alertness, front & rear parking sensors and all-around view monitor with moving object detection. Optional extras includes; full LED headlights, Cold pack, pro Pilot & Bose Premium sound system.
Finally, at the top of the range we have the SVE, available from €32,600. Sporting fully leather upholstery, you have the choice of black or beige interior. Standard features include; LED headlights, Bose premium sound system, heated seats, electronic parking brake & Pro-Pilot. The only additional option (excluding metallic paint) is the Pro-Pilot Park.
With EV sales down in January 2018 compared to the previous year, EV fanatics are looking to this new 40 kWh Leaf to increase the market share of EVs. The range is expected to be roughly 250 km, which will all but eliminate range anxiety for 95% of EV users. I for one am looking forward to seeing this model out in the wild!
