Earlier this week BMW released details of their latest concept car, the BMW iX3, with an expected production date of 2020. With the iX3 expected to be a competitor for the Jaguar I-PACE, Audi e-Tron & Mercedes EQ-C, BMW knew they would have to release a stylish concept car to generate interest. A feat they certainly achieved!
With a proposed 70 kW battery on board offering an expected WLTP range of 400 km it is sure to be a firm favourite for SUV fanatics. Built specifically to avail of the Ionity 150 kW chargers, it will potentially charge to 80% in just 30 minutes. Rumours are circulating that the iX3 will be 4 wheel drive, but BMW are yet to confirm this.
Offering 270 HP, like the majority of EV's, it definitely packs a punch. Essentially a subtly modified X3, BMW have steered clear of the outlandish design expected of EV's. Different aspects include the closed kidney grille which has been included to reduce air resistance & improve aerodynamics.
A light blue trim accentuates this grille, and the chassis around to the rear bumper distinguishing it as the iX3 as compared to the X3. This blue trim has become synonymous with electric cars, such as the some models of the Nissan Leaf, Renault Zoe & BMW i3.
With more details to be released over the coming months, BMW have already generated a lot of interest. Expected to come in around the €70,000 mark, it is most definitely a luxury car. But the BMW iX3 already has scores of fans queuing up!
